The reputation system
To see your most recent feedback, go into your control panel:
Once in there, you'll see something like the above (assuming you have positive or negative feedback points)
The reds are negative's, the greens are positives.
It's polite to leave your user name within the comment.
You give reputation points by clicking on the scales for each individual post:
When you have more reputation points, you get more pips. These show up just below your post count:
Guidelines
- Don't take the system too personally.
- It's more helpful to provide positive feedback to the really good posts than it is to provide negative feedback to the really bad ones. (I think all of the moms know about positive reinforcement).
- You can choose to not put a username in the comment, but doing so is not carte blanche to harrass members or behave inappropriately. Admins can track down problems.
- Moderators and Admins don't have direct visibility into comments, but we can look into them when necessary.
- The best way to increase your reputation is to give positive feedback to others.
- There are some built in rules that you will run into. You can't vote for the same post twice, there is a limit to how many votes you have in a given day, etc. They are reasonable.
