OK Mommies of older ones.... I need to know if it *REALLY* is THIS sudden.... Grace woke up on Tuesday morning and all she has talked about since that wake-up is Strawberry Shortcake.... She has "banned" Dora from her room and is asking for ANYTHING Strawberry Shotcake. She has two DVD's and some paper dolls that she loves,...

BUT Almost everything she is getting for Christmas is Dora..... Do they really change their favourites this quickly or is this just a blip in the "Doraffair"?

Ahh, welcome to the fickle world of the preschool girl!! Sassy goes through periods like that, out with the old in with the new. There is usually a period of toleration during the phase out. Hopefully Miss G will tolerate the Dora stuff, otherwise you may be adding Strawberry Shortcake stickers to everything!

Dora who?

Molly was just so over Dora one day. When we were figuring out which toys to give away to Goodwill, she brought me ALL of her Dora stuff. I was stunned. When I questioned her, she said in a sympathetic voice, "She's just not my girl anymore, Mom."

Yes, the Dora-sitter went away pretty quickly in our house too. All of Hannah's Dora movies and Dora stuff are starting to get packed up and moved out. I am going to get her a new non character bike for her fifth birthday too because her bike is a Dora bike and back then she LOVED it. She has moved on to My Little Pony and Barbie.

I feel totally old thinking about my kids playing with Strawberry Shortcake and My Little Pony-considering I had them when I was little. Did they come back out with Jem?

Jem was truly outrageous!

I bought a cabbage patch kid (newborn) for Annie for her birthday and I couldn't believe that when I opened the package the smell of the doll was the same as the ones I had in 3rd grade! Amazing how long your brain holds on to those memories!

Anyway, no experience with that fickleness yet, Jodi, but I hope she just had a one-day "fight" with Dora and they are BFF again tomorrow!

Since I don't have a little girl, I'm of no help.

However, I LOVED Jem!! My mom still has our Stawberry Shortcake dolls (stored in the big plastic strawberry) and they still smell just like they did 20 some years ago. My mom just dug out the Cabbage Patch premie dolls. They are exactly the same too. My sister is going to take a picture of Tara next to the doll every year. Right now, the Cabbage Patch doll (named Tara - she must have liked the name) is bigger the Tara.

Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack the post. It just sparked a memory.

Yes, it was the same thing here. In love with Dora one day, not so much the next day. I'm glad she's not DD's BFF anymore!
