Default sewing machine...

ok so i have never sewed a day in my life. my dad knows how to sew (in fact he made my wedding dress, moms curtains, etc) but i dont feel like waiting to get together to learn.

i want to make a pillow and table runner...right now!! anyway...the sewing machine only has directions in spanish. that really doesnt work out well for me.

i am looking for instructions online. but cant seem to find.
it cant be that hard right?

i guess this was pointless

You can always just go talk to someone at a local sewing machine shop or a local fabric shop -- they can probably help you with basics. Do NOT try that at JoAnns -- you would need to sign up for a class there as the people who work there are usually rather clueless about sewing....

the sewing part is easy, you just step on the pedal and feed the fabric to the machine. The harder part is making sure the machine is threaded properly, bobbin filled, stitch size set, etc.

Can you get the english version of the manual online?

If it's a somewhat popular brand I'll bet that you can.

i put the pedal to the metal and now have 4 pillows. piece of cake. nothing i will be selling off to pottery barn but they will do the trick.
i am so excited. so next i need to work on the table runner. i ran out of the bobbin and need to figure out how to thread but will when i am done work.

i really enjoyed this! wonder what i can make next....

Jessica,
I know you live by to me, so I wanted to let you know if you continue enjoying sewing, check out a local adult school class in it OR come visit the Little Shop in Haddonifeld. They are sooooo knowledgeable, hold classes or you can drop in and just pick their brain! It's right downtown near Little Tuna.

Curtains are extremely easy, especially if you are doing a "pocket" style top or a just a flat edge where you plan on using clip-on curtain rings.

So are duvet covers. Those are basically just a really big pillow cover.

kat i will will have to check that out. i like it right now. its something i always wanted to do. my MIL gave me her brand new sewing machine last year and today is the first time i used it! but thats bc i had old curtains (for the fabric) and felt the need for throw pillows.

yes i was thinking of a duvet cover for our comforter!
