Default Regional stuff

Having spent most of my life on the west coast then moving to the east coast, there are some regional differences that just crack me up.

One of the first funnies - our first Christmas in Buffalo, I looked all over for flocked trees. The people in Buffalo have never even heard of FLOCK. Must be a California thing. LOL.

And tonight - I told DH I wanted some Red Vines from the store (total pregnancy craving). No one here has heard of Red Vines!!! Crazy.

Do you know of any regional stuff that you can't find in other places?

Okay - what is a red vine? I do know what a flocked tree is, but I've never heard of this either.

I have no idea of what a red vine is either.

Here's a good regional item for you - a Runza - it's a baked not stuffed sandwich - it has ground beef, cabbage, cheese, onion and spices.

Never heard of a flocked tree either- I'm curious as to what it is. But I'm an upstate New Yorker and I know about red vines- come a couple hours east Dawn and I'll hook you up.

Isn't a flocked tree one that looks like it has snow on it?
We do have red vines here though.

Who knows what Vernor's is? Or a Yooper? An Awery's bumpy cake?

DH, the guy from MN, HAD to have the big ugly flocked tree because his princess two year old asked for it. That is Steven as a little babe barely sitting up watching the train go by.

Do you choose a flocked tree because there is no real snow? Being from snow central, it really doesn't make sense to me.

Yep! I'd show you the picture of the tree inside the convertible with the top down but that was before digital cameras (and kids). No snow here. We get Hawaiian Christmas shirts too!

I know what flocking is...don't find it attractive, but I know what it is.
Red Vines were new to me when I moved to Seattle. They don't have big tubs of Twizzlers...just tubs of Red Vines. Same thing though.

Butter & margarine sticks shift somewhere around the Rocky Mountains. They go from long & skinny, to short and fat on the west coast.

There are lots of Southern foods that I learned about when I moved to Alabama -- boiled peanuts, butter beans, moon pies, etc.

I'm sure there's a lot more stuff from the midwest, south, and Pacific NW...
