Dear Laptop,
It is with great sadness that I bid you a fond farewell. You were with me for such a short time during your long life, but I believe my love for you was more fierce than anyone else who owned you! I will always treasure our times together...our week at the sea shore, quiet evenings at the kitchen table while my husband was on the "better" computer, loud mornings with a bowl of cereal, and raucous afternoons with a toddler yanking on your mouse and me swiping her away as gently, but firmly, as possible. It's true that you were slow, and even considered old in the world of laptops, but I was overcome by your beauty and convenience. I will never forget the heartbreak of watching the disease overtake your monitor...first the ugly lines...and then the fading...and finally, the blackness. I tried everything to resuscitate you, to no avail. It was so quick, so sudden...yet so agonizingly slow and painful. I hope it did not cause you any pain. I will always remember you, my first laptop. May you rest peacefully in some toxic landfill. I am sure there is a more environmentally-friendly place for you to rest, but I don't have you anymore, so I can't find that information quite so easily.

My condolences, Jennifer. That week at the sandy sea shore + toddlers finally took their toll, huh?
I know your laptop can never be replaced, but now that they're <$500, maybe one can come close? | |

Jennifer, you crack me up. So are you on the "good" computer now?
when my monitor died on my old computer I just hooked up a regular monitor to it and for a couple years had a laptop and a big fat monitor sitting on my kitchen counter. | |
