A rink near our house has a preschool skate tomorrow. They give the skates, a lesson, and a snack. Younger siblings can be in strollers on the rink or using push toys.
It sounds fun and my mothers group is going to give it a try. Have any of you ever tried to take your preschooler skating? We're all wondering if we are insane!

Bean took lessons when he was 4 and I was 6 mos. pg. The first one was an absolute DISASTER - they just expected the kids to head right out onto the ice by themselves with nothing to hold on to, no one to help, even though it was a class for Pre-K with no experience (if I hadn't been pg, I would have done a parent/tot class with him). Poor Bean clung to the wall crying for about 8 minutes until I ran out with my pg belly to save him, then of course he was DONE and wouldn't go back. The next week I took him during open skate, defied my OB and family by putting my skates on and went out with him - that made all the difference.

Hopefully they will have lots of training aids (Novi Sports didn't have anything!) and be ready to be out there with her!

eta: Don't forget a helmut for her, please!

Is it roller skating? We have done that several times at our local rink and it is FUN!! I used to love it when we had stroller roller...exercise for mommy and fast ride for my little speed monkey. Try it~

We did skating this winter with DD (3.5) -- she was just so-so. They had "sleds" for them to push (basically metal walkers on the ice). She mainly used that, but did a little skating on her own. I'd go for it!

Sounds like it will be a blast or make the kids completely frustrated. DH wants to sign Bugs up for hockey this winter because they teach the kids to skate.

Grace has gone a few times with Jay.... and we are going to put her in skating come sept!

Sounds like fun! I'd be prepared to leave early if K is having a tough time and not enjoying herself.

We took Little Mr just after he turned 2--it was so-so. Just after he turned 3 was better. This past winter (just turned 4) he figured out how to glide, etc so it was much better.

I should have added the word roller. It is roller skating which might be a bit easier than ice since the wheel base is wider than a blade. We will see!

They put up an ice rink in the town next door for the holidays and I've taken Megan the past two winters so she was a bit over 3 and then a bit over 4. It was fun but since I was on the ice with her also exhausting.

It was definitely fun to do though!
