We met the teacher and other parents/kids in Sam's preschool today and one had a funny story. Her little boy is named Alan, but he goes by "Buzz"...apparently when he was born his two big brothers were totally into Buzz Lightyear and begged them to actually NAME him Buzz Lightyear...well, of course they didn't, but the two big boys insisted on calling him Buzz and the name stuck! The Mom was just rolling her eyes as she told the story...you could tell that she is a little sick of explaining why her son's name is Buzz.

I had a classmate with the same type of story. When she was born her sister wanted to call her Pebbles from the Flintstones. The name stuck all the way through high school. I lost touch with her after, but I bet some still call her Pebbles!

Before Jack was born, Luke was insistant that we name him "Butcher". I don't know where it came from. I'm so glad he forgot about it. I don't even know how I would explain that one!

My aunt married a man name Buz (don't make the mistake of spelling it with 2 z's). He is over 55 and an atty from a prominant local family. Even professionaly, he goes by Buz.
You just never know what will stick!

Too funny!! When my mom was pregnant with my youngest sister and told us what they were going to name her, my middle sister threw a fit and told us that if that was her name, my sister would just call her "Rags- she was only 5, who knows where that came from. As horrible as it sounds, it stuck and she was Rags to the family well into high school, and still is sometimes.
