Default Muscle pain HELP

You guys, I'm in so much pain. I've had a tight glut or IT Band muscle creeping up on me for a couple of weeks. I've been trying to use a styro roller to roll out the knot for about a week or two. It was getting better. I get on my bike daily to take the kids to parks so I think it gets irritated frequently. Mon night DH and I did a yoga/pilates tape that was 45 min of sweat! My back was uncomfortable this morning but I thought I"d power on and got on the bike. Came home in tears, dropped the kids off at a friend and went to urgent care. Just popped a vicadin and a muscle relaxer is on it's way thanks to my neighbor making a pharmacy run.
So, would you recommend a chiropractor or a deep tissue massage as a remedy? Or something else?
TIA gotta lay down and get comfortable.
Thank the Lord my kids are taking naps today!

One word of caution on the massage, it can make it worse. They massage the muscles and losen them up ,and then they can contract back to normal and hurt much worse.

I through my back out last year and someone suggested a message, I went and was in tears afterwords because she had made it worse.

Something similar happened to a friend of mine at work. She started seeing a chiropractor and it worked wonders for her. Maybe give it a try? It sounds like you have an injury, not just a knot, so I don't think I'd go for the massage just yet. Maybe once you know for sure it is just a knot or kink in the muscle, go for a massage.

What did they say at urgent care? Where they any help?
I think if they had no answers, I'd probably try to find a chiro. who also had a masseuse on staff. I know lots of place work those in conjunction.

I'm so sorry you are hurting! Big hugs and prayers that you feel better soon.

I would definitely try a chiro. Mine is the best thing that ever happened to my back.

Hm Jackie, are we experiencing the same thing or what? My back has been killing me for a few weeks. Right before DH and DD1 left to go camping I was hurting so bad that I made the LONG trek up to see my chiro. But...given that it is a long trek I only went the once. Now, I'm back to feeling awful and need to either go to a local chiro or go see a physical therapist. Either way, the $ is causing me to pause before I go. If I see a local chiro, they will want to do the xrays (which I didn't have done at my other chiro because I was pg at the time). And, I've already used up my chiro benefits for the year. If I go to a physical therapist, I have to go see a general practicitioner first to get a referral...all of which will cost me $ because I have a very high deductible now.

Blah, blah, blah to my insurance woes.

Anyway, I literally FEEL your pain. All my yoga stretches in the AM are only alleviating the strain for a short time...wish I could some long term results. Ugh. I think I'll bite the bullet and go see a new chiro.... What's $ for if you don't spend it, right?

Ditto the chiropractor. And mine gave me this stuff called Biofreeze - it's so not your mama's Bengay - it's much, much more effective. If you can find some, get it.

I've so been there before - hopefully the meds kick in quick and give you some relief!
