Default Marathon Runners?

Has anyone here ran a 1/2 or full marathon?

I am on the verge of committing to a 1/2 Marathon so I am just wondering who can talk me off the ledge?

Not me, but DH has done both a half and a full. The half wasn't bad for him (he's a runner...runs about 5-8 miles a few times a week). The marathon was killer...he trained appropriately for it and ended up finishing in a decent time, but he was almost delirious by the finish line and it took a few weeks for his body to be back to normal.

If you are a serious runner and/or can commit to the training schedule, I say go for it! (The 1/2, that is...I think running a full marathon is crazy!)

My DH has ran 3 local 1/2 marathons. And did his first marathon on his 38th birthday in January. He had a great time. It was at DisneyWorld and is called "The Happiest Marathon on Earth" (you Disney lovers will find the humor in that)

He's running it again in January and after that wants to either do London or Tokyo.

He loves his running time. It's "Me" time for him. It's quiet and out of the house. And it keeps him from looking like the other almost 40 yr old men that he sees (ie. no beer gut)

He ran 6 miles yesterday and is going to get is putting in a few more miles today.

Go for it! I love being at the finish line and cheering on all of the runners as they complete it!

Check out RunningWorld magazine/website. They have a great training program (per DH).

IMHO, having two children under five is the same thing as a full marathon
