Jodi, I was in the same place you were last year! It ended up being a 6 week search for the perfect camera (mostly because my
DH is a crazy researcher).
Anyway, first I wanted the FujiFilm similar to what you have. Then it was going to be the Olympus. But we finally settled on the
Kodak Z612 (part of the EasyShare system).
Gotta say that I love the camera. It's point and shoot, with lots of manual options if you want to play with them. Very little shutter lag. Long zoom with optical image stabilization (hard to find in this price range). And I think when I bought it was like $229 at Staples. Yay! I feel like it's a good bridge to an SLR, which is what my next camera will be.
