Default Know anything about yard drainage?

I need to put some drainage in along the north side of the house. Anyone know what to do? Site to look at? I have no idea about drainage and I don't want water in my basement again this winter.

TIA

We've got a french drain at the "top" of our property that prevents the uphill water from sogging us constantly...

I don't know if it will do the trick for you, but that might be a place to start!

We also have a french drainage system in our yard (we live on a hill) and we also have a sump pump in the basement.

We've got the french drain system as well and a sump pump. Unless you are really handy, you would probably need someone to install it. It involves digging up part of your concrete basement floor, adding gravel and pipe, installing the sump pump, fixing the concrete and getting it to drain outside. Once it's in, it works great.

Hmmm, things to think about. I did talk to some people who have worked on the house and they all advise against a sump pump. I will have to do some research on the french drain system. THANKS!!

I can ask DH. He's a civil engineer whose work life is all about sloping, grading, and drainage!! Oh, and he's a gardener too so I'm sure he will have some ideas.
