If someone wouldn't want Obama because of his alleged inexperience, why would they risk this total unknown & inexperienced person as VP just because she is female?

If you want to believe the press, then 90% of Americans vote based on gender/race alone. I want to believe we are smarter than that, don't you? IMHO, no running mate that McCain picked would make the Dems happy. Even though what you wrote might be what the press is feeding everyone, we should know better. Palin knows what a nasty race she is in for. She took the offer anyway. That takes some balls!! I like me a woman with a backbone and from what I know of her so far, hers is STRONG!

Palin has been mentioned for months. It didn't get a ton of press, but it was mentioned. This was even before the Clinton/Obama thing played out in the primaries.

His choice is strategic, clearly. But he also had the opportunity to make this election historic by placing a woman on the ticket. He could have picked another conservative old white male. He didn't do that.
