...with this work day coming to an end I have 4 more to go before my mat leave begins
I am so excited! I was stuck here in the news department without wanting to be here. I actually work in show production but since most shows (and the ones I worked with) came to an end this June they sent me to the freakin news dpt in the administrative office to help out the permanent stuff with their summer leaves (i'm on contract). Huh! Which meant no summer leave for me (I am not entitled to one unless they give it to me or my office closes for the summer which is something the news dpt never does). Had I been transfered to another office I would take most of August off for the summer. So now I pulled my mat leave card with them (because I hate being here and I hate the mentality some permanent stuff have)...and off I go. In the meantime I conspired with my department (because I still belong to them) so I'm actually not considered on mat leave for August but instead for summer leave (which the news dpt won't know

). I also made arrangements that I take Sept-Dec off (which brings me to a total of 5 months off) until my new contract in January.
Over here, the state has women taken their leave 56 days prior to labor and 63 post labor. Which gives you not much time with the newborn really. It sucks. So with Ody I made arrangements with my job and worked till the last minute and took all 4 months post labor. Didn't apply for my pay from the government but instead was never taken off the payroll at work. On paper it looked like I kept working...This time I will only have 3 months with the baby but that's still good, considering I get two months of quality time with Ody before the baby is here and a total of 5 months rest. Since this pregnancy feels "heavier", things have turned out pretty well I must admit!

I just love my department, they're so helpful. Contractors have it pretty bad unless depts are willing to help them out...which isn't the case in news.
