Default Sewing Pattern

I'm taking all of Diva's baby clothes that she's outgrown and making a quilt. Does anyone have a suggestion of a sewing pattern that's easy enough for me to hand sew with? I don't own a sewing machine, so the simpler the better.

I made a quilt for my MIL with her mothers clothes. I just cut out large squares and sewed them together. It was very simple. I also put photos on it first using photo transfer paper and some white cotton fabric that I just randomly put in there. I didn't use a pattern. If you decide how large you want it, you can figure out how many squares you need and what size you want them to be.

Have you pieced a quilt together by hand before? I'm shuddering thinking about it! I'm horrible at hand stitching...

Hand stitching isn't to bad if you're used to it. Now that I finally have a sewing machine, I still hand sew a lot of things because for me it's faster than setting the machine up & getting out all the stuff.
I love the quilt idea. I was going to do that & it just never happened because i'm lazy . I ended up giving all of my favorite baby clothes to good friend of mine. It's cool to see them on her little guy. Maybe i'll attempt a quilt with some of Jack's tshirts.

When you do this, do you plan on using lots of different fabrics? How do you deal with stretchy fabric vs. cottons?

I plan on doing this as well. Well, not me... I plan on finding someone who can do this for me.

Fusible interfacing will stabilize the stretchy fabrics.

ETA: I have clothes I've kept to do this with as well - as far as a pattern goes, I'll just lay them out and see what uniform size square/rectangle/triangle can be cut from each of them and then make up the pattern from there. There are simple quilt patterns made for charm squares (5 inch fabric squares) so if you want an actual pattern to follow, google "charm square quilt pattern" and you'll find some.

It would take a lot of effort to match the color values, but an Irish chain quilt would be cool for something like this.
