I was really sick with Elijah. With Frances, I was sick at first but my diet was superb and I exercised regularly so when I started gaining, it was slow. |

Also, keep in mind that when I am pregnant I don't eat sugar at my MWs urging so there goes a LOT of empty calories The reality is I eat SO much better than I am pregnant. I honestly get frustrated with myself that I can do it for the baby but not myself. Hmmmm I think that says something about me | I am exactly the same way. I cannot get myself motivated to eat better, exercise, or lose baby weight. But when I was pg, I didn't even blink. |

| Re: weight gain during pregnancy | | I'm not 100% sure because I don't weigh myself regularly. But I'm pretty sure I gained 35 lbs. with both kids.
ETA: I was really freaked out about weight gain the 2nd time. I'm not sure why, but I was really worried about losing the weight after. I now weigh less than I did pre- pg. Like I said, I don't weight myself a lot, but I went to the dr. recently and am at the weight I was in college. I hadn't seen that weight in maybe 9 years. |

| Re: weight gain during pregnancy | | I gained about 35 pounds with each of my girls. I gained most of the weight between 16 and 26 weeks. Both times I gained next to nothing in the last six weeks or so (gain a pound, next week lost almost a pound, next week gained almost a pound, etc).
Eat right, walk / exercise and your body will do the rest. Worry about your post-pregnancy weight after the baby is born! |

#2 - 28 lbs (8 lb 8 oz boy)
I tried to eat a little better with #2, especially during the 2nd tri, as if I was pacing myself or something on the weight gain. Also, maybe my body was less worried about starving, b/c I wasn't quite as hungry as with #1.
Both times I've lost all the weight within 6 months (and then some...a size smaller than normal) because of bfing. Like Wendy said, though, that's not the case for everyone. |

2nd - 16lbs.
I have no idea how one was double the other! I probably ate better the first time. I had lots of junk and a massive chocolate addiction wtih number 2. The only think I can think of as reasons I gained less weight during number two was that I was more sick at the beginning, I was way more nervous, I was also heavier to begin with (so maybe less need to gain mroe maternal weight) and I was probably moving more b/c I was tyring to keep up with Reagan. |

| Re: weight gain during pregnancy | | 35 with Sam
45 with Annie (yikes!)
45 was too much for me...I fully blame two things...one is that I was so nauseated during the first trimester and the only thing that helped was keeping food in my tummy. So I ate little things all day long. Second, I surrendered to a bad craving and ate Phish Food ice cream almost every night for 2 months straight. Not good.
You are right...everyone has a different number and I don't think anyone needs to worry too much about it. There are consequences to gaining too much (which I fully know after trying to lose those extra 10 lbs for over a year), but hey...maybe it was worth the joy of eating all of that delicious ice cream! |

| Re: weight gain during pregnancy | | I gained 15 kilos with Ody. Right now I'm up 10 already but I'm not worried. Both pregnancies I gained weight early and it slowed down later...just like it has now. People still tell me I look like I've gained nothing. I tell them that's because they haven't seen me in shorts yet, LOL...Which means I've gained in the wrong places. I still have a slim waist believe or not, if you see me from the back you can't tell I have a belly. But my thighs are chunky and my boobs super heavy. |
