In between blood draws, I went to a nice cafe across the street and had marble cake and freshly squeezed orange juice as well as an iced cappuccino freddo! I was quite hungry because I kept without food/water untill 11:45 when I did the test but after the first few bite/sips I didn't want anymore. Still much better than the glucose syrup...

Will have the results tomorrow.

YUM! I would totally take those food choices over the syrup any day!!!! The syrup makes me so sick that with Anna they just went ahead and did the 3hr test on me instead of the 1hr.

I was a spectacle myself when pregnant the first time, lying on the center's couch like a lump, feeling dizzy and sorry for myself, trying to drink the thing as fast as I could.

I think I am not going to take the test this time. Enough testing done already. I will talk to my doctor on Monday, but I think I'll decline.

But isn't this the only way to test for diabetes? I'm sure you're fine anyway but how else would you know?

I declined the 3-hour test because the 1-hour made me feel sick and they wanted me on a carb/sugar heavy diet for days leading up to the next test. i just couldn't take it. I followed the diet they would have put me on and did the self-monitoring. My blood sugars were fine 90% of the time (high when I splurged every few weeks).
