| Strep Throat | | I'm getting it, and I know it. I always come down with strep throat this time of year, and it completely knocks me on my back for a week. The throat is sore and swollen, and I can just feel it creeping up on me. You can see both my lymph nodes sticking through my neck.
I'm going to call out of work tomorrow and Friday and hope that the long weekend cures my ails. Any home remedies I can try? Should I pick up OJ on my way home? I have tea, but only chai tea ... I want to try to stop it in its tracks before abx are needed.
I'm going to try to get an appointment for Friday, just in case things get worse. |

| Re: Strep Throat | | Gargle with warm salt water
Sleep
Hot tea (I use regular tea, but chai may work) I add lemon and a bit of whisky. Since you are preggo, you may want to skip that. Add a little honey if you want
Sleep
Chicken soup
Sleep
See the doctor
Sleep
I hope that you are feeling better soon. |

| Re: Strep Throat | | I hate ABX and will do anything to avoid them, but for strep, I go right for them, even when I was pregnant. Other than that, popsicles! It helps with the pain and keeps fluids in you. |

| Re: Strep Throat | | I agree with Jennifer. Trying to get through strep without abx only delays the inevitable and extends the pain. All the other things can help the pain, but won't get rid of the strep. |

| Re: Strep Throat | | yep strep you need abx, and strep is pretty aggressive and can lead to other things and you dont' want to mess with that while preggo. Now if you thought it was just a sore throat thing then forget it but if you know its strep coming on or suspect it get to the doc.
That said, hot tea and lemon wiht honey does wonders for me and sleep sleep sleep. |

| Re: Strep Throat | | If it makes you feel any better about the abx, they'll give you the z-pak which is only 5 pills total. Don't try to kick this on your own for too long, it's not worth it!! Sleep as much as you can and enjoy those liquids! Hope you feel better soon. |
