DD#1 was 12 days late (I was about 3 cm for much of that time) despite plenty of sex. DD#2 was 5 days late but I did go into labor a few hours after having sex. I think she was just ready to arrive, though.

I agree, unless your water is broken there is NO fear of infection.
I was a good 5 cm for 3 weeks before Brendan was born, half way there and no problems having sex.

I did EVERYTHING the dr. suggested and then every wives tale I could get my hands on. Walked, walked and then walked some more. Spicy food, sex, more spicy food. Nothing worked. That boy didnt want to come out.

I went in to be induced 14 days late and had never had a contraction (not even BH) and was not even a finger tip dialated. But induction started and 3.5 hours of labor and 10 min. of pushing and he was out. I guess he just needed to know we meant it!
