| Just ate a sandwich!!! | | I went to Subway and got a melt - turkey and ham. As I was down to my last bite, it hit me - OH CRAP, NO DELI MEATS! I did have it toasted. I'm totally freaked out about this. |

| Re: Just ate a sandwich!!! | | Dawn, don't worry - I had plenty of deli meat when pg.... the risk of listeria is really really low. |

| Re: Just ate a sandwich!!! | | I ate them at least 3 times a week while preggo. No big deal.
If you have them toasted, it gets hot enough to kill any listeria anyway. |

| Re: Just ate a sandwich!!! | | Phew - ok, good.
And can I tell you how horrible of a Subway experience it was? First, the girl didn't change her gloves before she started to make my sandwich. The guy before me had ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich so she had the sauce all over. I asked her to change the gloves.
They didn't have any singles, so I got three dollars in quarters in change.
The girls start going on about how much they hate the Buffalo Bills.
I asked for some soup - she hands it to me without wiping off the excess so I got hot soup all over my hand.
I'm so not going back there... |

| Re: Just ate a sandwich!!! | | I ate all kinds of sandwhiches while pregnant. Just make sure they are from reputable places (and heated up is even better) and you're fine. |

| Re: Just ate a sandwich!!! | | My OB told me that in 14 years (or so) that she'd been practicing she's only seen one case of Listeriosis ever. She said that it better to get it from places where they aren't slicing it using a machine that they use for a lot of things without cleaning (i.e. a grocery store deli where they don't clean it in between each slicing). And of course heating it until it is steaming also helps. I'm sure you're fine. But I understand why you aren't going back to that Subway!! |

| Re: Just ate a sandwich!!! | | Dawn while pregnant I had a whole lot of unpasteurized meats and cheeses, cold cuts, prosciutto, saucages, feta cheese, brie cheese...you name it. I had sushi quite frequently, I ate salads at restaurants and basically I never let myself freak out about anything. I went about my business like I normally would with the exception of the things nausea didnīt allow me to touch. I and the baby did just fine. Donīt work yourself up about such things. |
