| Re: Gah! I am so disappointed | | (( KB )) If you enjoy your lattes that much be sure to include one (or something) a week. Don't deprive yourself or if you are like me the NEED for a treat will get you into more trouble than just having one every so often.
A few weeks ago I was also getting bummed because the weight wasn't coming off. I hadn't lost a single pound in six weeks! But finally my body got the message and I lost a few pounds.
You've gotten great advise from the others so I'll just add a ' ITA'! hugs ... |

| Re: Gah! I am so disappointed | | (((Kim))) I'm so sorry this week was disappointing for you. You are doing everything right and I know this is the wrong thing to say but indulge in one latte, as long as you have the will power to resist after one. I don't which is why I can't seem to change my bad habits.
You are doing amazing! Remember that you are making life choices/changes here.

| Re: Gah! I am so disappointed | | (((Kim))) I understand your frustration.
Is your nutritionist having you write down everything you eat? I always had my clients do this for the first 3 months or so. Sometimes an outside source can see things in your diet you aren't seeing. |

You know all the "right" answers.
Amanda has a great point...you'll probably lose big next week.
Talk to your trainer and nutritionist, if you haven't already. Are you eating ENOUGH.
Working out that much, if you don't eat enough your body will go into starvation mode and HOLD ON to as much as it can. Plus, are you BFing at all? If you are, that's another reason for your body to hold on to the weight (even if it's just one feeding a day).
Plus, I noticed that on your little ticker you have the lbs lost during the week out of your total to lose. Did you mean to do that, or did you want to put your cumulative loss...which would be 5 lbs.
Another thing that helps is to look at something that weighs 5 lbs. Pick up a weight at the gym...that is NOT ON YOUR BODY ANYMORE. That is a huge accomplishment.
As for the latte...have it if you want it. Get a small one, make it skinny if you can.
I had (and still do) dessert EVERY NIGHT while I was losing. I just saved some points. What good is being thin if you are miserable???
Hugs, Kim. Keep your eye on the goal. What you are doing does work and you will get there! | Every thing Kim said was great advice.
You are doing really great! Don't beat yourself up about this, please. You don't want to discourage yourself because you really are doing great sticking with your program. I'm certain you will see big changes very soon. My ear and shoulder are here for you if you need it. ((Kim)) |

| Re: Gah! I am so disappointed | | Kim - Do not give up on yourself and what you are doing. It will take time, a long time to turn things around. Like other's said, your body will take time to adjust to what you are doing. And you will see that one week some lbs. will just drop. Right now your body is probably going to try and hang on to the weight as it adjusts to your new diet and use of calories.
You can do it! |

| Re: Gah! I am so disappointed | | That sucks Kim. That is how my body reacts too - the minute I start working out and dieting my body starts holding onto the weight. I must have been a starved refugee in another life. |

She allocated a daily amount of servings of starch (carbs), veggies, fruits, milk, protein, and fats. She did figure in snacks, but it is up to me to divvy out the allocated daily servings. A typical morning snack consists of a small apple (fruit), one string cheese (protein + a fat), 1c skim milk (milk). I usually end up having 3 meals, 2 decent snacks, and 1 very small (like an apple or 1/4c of cottage cheese) snack after dinner since I don't get to bed until late sometimes. | Kim - huge hugs to you. The weight will come off. Keep up the good work. Your diet sounds very similiar to my diet for gestational diabetes. Except I can't have fruit in the morning. The diet has been so hard for me to follow - so you get huge kudos for that alone. |

| Re: Gah! I am so disappointed | | Kim, I can't help but think about the show Biggest Loser. I have watched every single season of it. Even with working out all day every day, having a staff of doctors, personal trainers, nutritionists, and chefs at their disposal all the time... week two is always the hardest. Lots don't lose any weight, and some gain in week two. Even with all that help. I get how you don't care about the things that physically make that happen, that you just want a change and you want it now. But you are changing your body in ways - already - that you perhaps aren't even able to fully appreciate yet. The foundation you are building now will make it easier to lose more later. It is the same with gaining weight during pregnancy - it doesn't make sense that we gain in our back and boobs and thighs early, but we do because our body needs it to do its job later. You are in the process of changing your body chemistry so that you can better burn calories for fuel. It is a process of altering your body, not just your weight.
Hang in there. It will happen. |
