Default Falling off the wagon

Girls, I can sense myself slipping. Not so much that I'm eating twinkies or something, but I can tell I'm feeling deprived. And sullen about it. And that is contributing to an extra glass of wine, and extra dessert here and there. I got a timely, e-mail from WW today about not slipping, and it suggested carefully adding back the foods I'm not eating so as not to feel deprived. I just don't seem to have enough points to do this though. I really can't have a real brownie or a piece of cheesecake - that's like a whole meal of points. And eating a tiny bit just makes me want more, it doesn't satisfy the urge. Any motivating words for me today?? Maybe I should hang a little bikini in my fridge....

I'm officially off the wagon until March 2nd. I am of no help at all. DH brought in a 5 lb bag of M&M's and I was done for.

I'm getting back on the wagon FULL FORCE when I get back. Good luck Jen, I'm cheering for you.

Oh, I hear you! I completely quit the diet this last weekend while I was home for the funeral (which I don't feel bad about...I think that it would have been impossible to add one more thing to be stressed about). I ate cake, cookies, pie, candy, greasy casseroles, cheesy mexican food, chips, and cinnamon rolls for breakfast. I tell you what...it felt GOOD! And I was just convinced that I would have gained 5 pounds by time I got home. But, I only gained about .5 lbs!

Now, I don't really recommend a full-out binge like mine, but what it made me realize is that having an extra treat every now and then is not going to completely derail the diet. Eating a piece of cake once a week or having a glass of wine will not cause you to gain weight. (That is what those weekly points are for!) I say use your weekly points for splurges and make them really good ones. Hopefully that will make you feel less deprived and encourage you to keep at it.

I am having a hard time getting back on the wagon. I only have a few more pounds to lose, so it is REALLY tempting to just quit. But I'm going to try really hard to at least keep it up until my 3 month membership is up, then hopefully I'll have enough experience to judge for myself and eat healthily without the points. We shall see.

Anyway, you are doing a GREAT job! Keep up the good work and let yourself have a treat!

Default Re: Falling off the wagon

When I was doing WW, my BIG indulgence was MAMMOTH lemon-poppy seed muffins at my local grocery store bakery. If I felt myself getting off the wagon, I'd have one. Sometimes, I'd workout more to compensate, but other times, I just took the points hit and watched myself for the rest of the week. The muffin was also a treat I'd have if I had a really good weigh-in (2lbs or more).

I just never liked the whole "I can't have that" mode of self-talk. I CAN have that muffin. I just need to adjust what else I eat ... if I have the muffin, then I need to snack on fruit for the rest of the day/week instead of yummy WW cakes or bars. Did I lose as much weight as other people in my meeting? Probably not. But, I did lose nearly 20 lbs ... while eating ONE mammoth lemon-poppy seed muffin nearly every week.

You can do it! You can make a pit-stop without getting completely off the wagon!

That's a good tip, Kim. I can't really make up for treats like that in one day, but I suppose I could over the week - just have to expand my horizons and actually plan to have that treat so I can look forward to it. Right now I think I have a "see how long I can hold off" mentality and it's totally backfiring.

I am right there with everyone. I went to Seattle last week on vacation with some of our friends that are our eating and cooking buddies. So I really fell of the wagon and really struggling to get back on. So I sat down with all my weight watcher cookbooks last night and planned at lot of fun meals out of them to get me back motivated. Good luck with everyone getting "back" on the wagon.

I stood no chance of making up for my muffin in activity points in one day. So, if my plan was to make it up in activity points, I did it over the course of the week. I think I added 10-15 minutes of extra activity each day ... even if that was nothing more than walking at lunch.

I think planning to have the treat is a good idea. When you feel yourself slipping, just adjust your meals to allow yourself that pit-stop. AND, even if you DON'T plan for a big treat and have one, I think it's important to be able to come UP with a plan instead of kicking yourself for having a treat. BTDT ... it was much easier for me to get my WW self back together if I stopped the negative self-talk and put together my rebound plan.

If you have a treat, make it count. Make it a REAL brownie or cookie and have ONE. No WW cakes as treats!!!

I totally plan to start WW again after I have BB.

I am thinking of switching plans. I am liking the freedom of the flex plan but I am indulging way too much and trying to make up for it later. I think I am going to reach the wall with another two pounds to lose and am going to have to claw my way to the end. I just don't have the discipline for that . Ever since my pig out at Valentine's I just haven't kept up with my online tracker and am still having treats here and there. I know a lot of it is DH being out of town and I am an emotional eater but I want to develop some discipline so that I can keep this off on my own and it isn't a constant battle
