Default Days off?

So, for those of you on work-out plans, how many days off do you schedule? I don't want to burn out, but I've been on a 6-day schedule (for the most part) while I'm training for this tri - it's working fine so far (I have one yoga day, too, so it's not hard cardio every day), but I wonder if I'll be able to keep up my results if I don't do 6 days. Any advice?

Default Re: Days off?

I've been on a 6 week "off" but I don't think I should be recommending it
This morning I got up, got on my workout clothes AND even tennis shoes, and then proceeded to log onto SMS and my email for an hour... GAH!

Default Re: Days off?

I do cardio 3 days a week, lift one day and do something on one other day (walk, run, stretch, yoga...) depending on my mood. I stagger my cardio (as it is 99% running) so I am doing it on Mon, Thurs and Sat. The schedule works well for me. I take Friday and Sunday off.

I think the hardest part (once it is in your schedule) is finding the right plan for you...how many days and what type of activity. I was doing Mon through Fri and kept getting burned out so I changed my Fri to Sat and all has been good for months.

Default Re: Days off?

I run/walk with Boo 7 days a week. The only break is if I travel somewhere and going for a morning walk isn't workable for some reason, or if I am sick or injured. Or it's pouring rain. I don't do rain.

I do 10 mins of a push up/sit up routine on days I don't go to the gym, and I go to the gym on T and Th. for an hour. I plan to go to M, W, F when summer is over.

So, no days off. I probably should take one, but I can't decide which one. Sick as it sounds, if I miss my morning walk/run, I miss it!

Default Re: Days off?

I'm not on a plan now because DH keeps beating me out the door to take a run with the dog in the evenings... But when I am in heavy training (which I haven't been for years) I take 1 day off every 4 days. 4 days train, 1 day rest, 4 days train, 1 day rest. On my day off, I walk a little and stretch to keep from getting stiff.

I'm really jealous that DH has been getting to exercise. My 5K goal for this year has been put on indefinite hold. But I am proud that DH has been losing a little weight.
