Well, Jen, I'm sure you won't get last. And even if you do, it is FREAKING AWESOME that you are even doing it!!! There are very few people in this world that can do what you are doing...even if you do end up last!

Congrats! When I "ran" a 10K (the only one I ever ran) I came in second to last for my age group. It was embarrassing. And the results are published online. If you google me, that's what you get.  But keep it in perspective. Most people don't even attempt to do a triathlon! Just by finishing you are ahead of the curve! | |

A triathalon is HUGE! With soemthign like that you really are competeing against you not everyone else. Keep it in perspective. THis is your first one, next one think about moving up the line. ANd i bet there will be some who don't finish. | |

Yeah for doing one!!
When I did the Danskin triathlon I was super slow on the bike. I mean, hey, it isn't everyday that you get the bridge across Lake Washington all to yourself (closed to cars) on a gorgeous day with a great view of Mt. Rainier! Actually, I'm just a *very* leisurely cyclist. You are in good company!!
BTW, one thing I really love about the Danskin is that Sally Edwards (their spokesperson) finishes every Danskin triathlon last. That way, you are sure to NEVER be the last person and she always says "there's a party in the rear" because she's usually surrounded by women just having a grand time.
So, I say -- if you are in the rear, make it a party! Might as well have fun doing it! I can loan you my hula girl bike horn... | |
