When baby #2 came, how did you place the carseats? Did you put one on each side with nothing in the middle? Or did you put them side by side so someone could ride in back with them? Baby in the middle or on the outside? We have a Honda Pilot and a Nissan Titan for vehicles. We have a Britax Marathon and a Graco basic (I don't remember what) infant seat.
I don't know why this is confusing for me, but I appreciate the advice on how to position them. Thx.
Baby #2 isn't here yet, but I have DD's Marathon on the passenger side and was planning on putting baby's infant seat on the driver's side, so they have some space between each other. Good post - it'll be interesting to hear what others have to say.
I have an Expedition with 3 rows. Jack is in the middle row behind the passenger seat. Reed is in the middle row in the middle. I have the other seat behind the driver open so that Luke can sit there, or he can fold it forward to get in the back row.
I have buckets in the back of my SUV so the kids are split up. My GF has an older minivan and she *hates* that the middle row is only a 2 seater so the kids are right next to each other. The older one is always "loving up" the baby, ramming the nuk in her mouth and waking her up with all his love taps. She moves the older one to the back row if they are going an amount of distance...even though it is a pain to get him in there.
I switched them around depending on the older one's age. When F was born, B was 2 1/2. So I had B right behind me and F behind the passenger seat with the empty in the middle. That was so I could reach him rear facing to put pacifiers in, etc. As they got older, I switched them so F was behind me and B was behind the passenger seat - that was mostly once she was in school and we were doing carpool. That way she didn't have to climb over him to get in/out when the helpers opened the door on that side of the car. Now with three - I have them all lined up with C behind the driver, B in the built in middle booster and F in his booster behind the passenger seat. We have the third row for carpool days.
Split them up with space in the middle but the baby behind the passenger because the infant seat didn't let us put the seat back far enough for DH to drive.
Bean stayed on the passenger side, Poppet went directly behind the driver with a space between them so he didn't poke her or use her as storage for all his snacks and toys. Having Poppet on the driver's side worked well because Bean could get himself in & out of his own door, so I only had to go to one side of the car and just lean in across the seat to buckle his seat belt.
