Re: How do you clean? | | When I am doing my flylady 15 minute thing, I will pick a zone and do it top to bottom. Usually not more than about 10x10. For example, I will attack my laundry room first every time. In 15 minutes I can load/unload the washer/dryer and start them. Then I take all my cleaning supplies off the shelves, wipe them down, and put them back more organized. I jot down a list of any supplies I need while I put them back, then wipe down the washer and dryer, and sweep up the floor last. It helps to actually have a timer counting down rather than watching the clock because it makes me competitive and I have to beat the clock instead of focusing on perfection. I also go top to bottom. I don't worry about the heavy stuff like mopping the floor or cleaning out the dryer vent unless I have another 15 minutes later in the day. That is a really specific example that is fresh in my mind because I did it about an hour ago! But the same approach applies to every room. Some rooms (kitchen, bathroom, playroom) tend to take longer than 15 minutes, so I do two or three 15 minute sessions throughout the day. I pick one room a day and figure I will get around to everything in a week to a week and a half. In-between, I just fight the clutter monster and try to round up random dirty dishes. Now, remembering to and actually making calls for appointments, etc is something I have never quite gotten the hang of. If someone has tips for that, bring em' on. |
