Default How do you clean?

We may have been thru this before but how do you clean? Do you go room by room? Sounds logical to me but today I'm cleanning this @#$% house for the LAST showing and I'm running around trying to do it all and pack at the same time. So I'm cleaning by cleaning product. Magic Eraser on the white trim, then into the bathroom shower stall. Then toilet bowl cleaner in all the bathrooms, then vaccuum all the rooms, then a load of laundry.... you get the picture. I'm just running around hoping that when I get done I'll have hit everything. I'm thinking this is not the best process.
And BTW, yesterday was my last day of work as a process redesign engineer. Ironic?

COngrats on your last day! Wooo Hoooo! I did some process design work. It *is* ironic! LOL!

I do things in stages of urgency, not by room. So, I guess I clean by task.

1. Clean up the clutter so at least the place looks clean, KWIM?
2. Clean out sinks, bathrooms/mirrors
3. Sweep hard floors
4. Dust large surfaces
5. Vacuum

I have probably forgotten something, but this way, if I get interrupted, things are not so bad.

Um, you have obvioisly not been to my house. That question would have read more like

"Why don't you clean your house?"

LOL...I was thinking along Christy & Carol's Method of Operation....

I do my major cleaning day on Sat or Sunday....actual mopping floors, baseboards, purging toys whenever possible. Monday/Wed mostly laundry day, if I remember. Tuesday, purge more stuff-papers, toys, clothes, whatever! Friday is my day off from housework and I try before making dinner every night to "pick up" the house. This consists of chucking stuff in the correct room and maybe even putting it away.

My secret-Mrs. Meyer's Cleaning products every other day to make the house smell soooo clean. Also, I Swiff about every other day for the lovely dog hair.

I HATE to clean, but with the two boys, DH's zillion sporting hobbies, a shedding dog and too many parties/mtgs at my house....it's the only thing that gets me to clean.

Leave a check for the cleaning lady every two weeks and try not to destory the house in between cleanings.

I would *like* to clean like Jenna and Amanda clean; however, my cleaning more resembles Kat's method. I am always cleaning on the weekend.

Default Re: How do you clean?

I have a cleaning caddy that I take from room to room. It has window cleaner, wood cleaner, rags, magic eraser, brushes and a few other things in it. It is everything I need to clean every room. Then I do one room at a time.

Default Re: How do you clean?

I do most of the cleaning on the weekends. I try to keep on top of stuff during hte week, but by Friday there is laundry everywhere and dishes piled in the sink (no dish washer here). When I do clean I usually start with the dishes, then the laundry (folding and putting away) and surfaces (tidying, dusting, and picking up, making beds), then the floors (vaccuming and moping). I don't do everything in one room at a time. I do all the same tasks at once so I'm not dragging my mop and bucket out 4 times.
