Default Front loader laundry question...

Those of you with these machines - do you use powder in them? I have always used liquid (HE) and would like to use a laundry booster like Oxy Clean or something now that Mr Poopy pants is here. Would you just dump the powder in the machine and not in the soap dispenser area?
I am scared of doing major damage to my machine and would much rather replace the stove over the washing machine!

my soap dispenser has two compartments, one for the detergent and one for fabric softner. I've never used fabric softner in it, but I put liquid Oxy Clean in it all the time and it works like a charm.

I put the powder in the wash compartment. The softener compartment only drains during the rinse, and I would want the Oxy in there during the wash time....
I would be sure not to over fill with clothes....if oxy sits in solid form on clothes too long, it will bleach it and actually eat holes in it!!
I have yet to have a problem with puting it right in with the clothes.

I use tide free powder. Mine has a compartment for bleach and I use it to wash sheets and towels and another compartment for fabric softener.

I have never used powder Oxyclean in the machine. They make a liquid that I have used. I add it in on the detergent side.

I do use the powder stuff in a bucket with hot water as a pre-soak. Then I dump the whole thing (water and all) in the machine and wash it.

Don't have a front loader, but I would add it in with the detergent (at the same time). Either that, or disolve it first in some water and just throw it in before you put your clothes in. I couldn't wash without Oxy. It goes in every wash...excpet the reds.
