Default For the kids who don't need anything...

What are you getting them? What are you telling the grandparents to get for them?

I know Hannah is going to want to open gifts...and I know Steven will follow. Christine could care less and will be happy thrashing around the wrapping paper and tissue. Hannah really wants My Little Pony, Barbie and Dress up stuff. Steven...no idea yet. Maybe more Hot Wheels and stuff for his train table.

I think I might just ask them to contribute to her Registered Education Savings Plan instead of giving her gifts. At 14 mos. she already has more money saved up for University than I did at 18 years! Last year she got so many clothes that she didn't even end up wearing some of them. We'll probably get her a few toys. Any suggestions for a 17 month old?

We are asking my parents to get the boys more stuff for their room....comforters from LAnd of Nod, and IL's a re buying the sheets/shams. We will most likely stick to a race track for the unused train table DH built, and maybe one of those cool lit moon phases for their wall...they love outerspace and it's educational.

Our policy is Mom/Dad/IL's buy practical gifts, and Santa brings TOYS!

For a 17 mos old...how about a cute tea set, art stuff like washable finger paints and tub toys> That's what we went with and it was a HUGE hit....Oh, and beleive it or not, kids' CD's...Our boys LOVED the Disney CD's at that age!

Zoo membership, Gymboree classes gift certificate, swim lesson certificate or such.

We're getting Isabella a sleeping bag since we went camping this year and she loved it! I'd like to get her a personalized CD...maybe Veggie Tales...since she LOVES listening to music. And books...always books. My mom is knitting her a scarf to go with her favorite winter hat.

Alison, you are my kind of gift giver. We prefer "to do" gifts rather than "to have" gifts. Unfortunately, the ILs strongly disagree with that policy.

Poor Sophia does not have anything on her list. I finally came up with new crib sheets. Is that bad for a 8 month old? I know she'll get a few toys and some clothes.

We just have way too many toys, but I feel so guilty throwing them out/Goodwill. People spent money on those!!! I'm a hoarder from growing up so poor.

Do kids get excited about that? I know Maddie and Ellysia will take a summer ballet class and it would be nice if the grandparents paid for it, but how fun is it to unwrap that? Especially since it is so far into the future.

Maybe you could incorporate something that ties in with it. Ballet Class - a dance outfit, Swimming lessons - a new swimsuit, Zoo Pass - a book on zoo animals????
