Default Easter Baskets - what are you filling them with?

I am really behind this year. I am looking for things other then candy and small toys. What's left? I end up eating the candy and we have more small toys then I know what to do with. Bubbs also has a ton of books. We just bought some more from his school book drive. I am looking for a religious book though. Something with a few bible stories.

Ideas?

I got E some Elmo washcloths, puffs, little apple juice boxes, finger paints,a couple of little tank tops and little eggs that have little people figures in them.
As for books about religion,I saw some at B&N.They had titles like 'What Easter is all about' and things like that.

I think I went a little overboard this year. I blame my Target binge after being in Target Rehab.

For Sam:
-Thomas the Train little Easter Set
-A little Elmo holding a Guitar
-Crayola twistables
-A few little eggs full of candy
-Nerds Rope
-A small book
-A Matchbox Airplane
-Chocolate Bunny

Annie:
-A little toy purse
-An Elmo doll
-Small book
-A few little treats
-Crayola little kid crayons
-Chocolate Bunny

For both...one of those GAZILLION BUBBLES bubble generators.

ETA: Very embarassed that nothing is religious at all. We do already have plenty of religious books. But Easter is a tough one to have story books about because of the story...I have told Sam a very toned down version, but I don't think he's up for the whole shebang. We sort of focus on that "today is a day that we are thankful for Jesus."

Is Jack too old for Veggie Tales? I think they have an Easter DVD/book.

We have this book (and the Bible of the same series) and it is a great book. The actual story of Jesus' life is more detailed than the Read and Learn Bible.

As for the EB

Our favorite toy store is closing down for a remodel this week and I was able to get some GREAT deals on cool basket stuff

-telescope
-slinky
-chocolate bunny and eggs
-fruit beans (aka organic jelly beans)
-wooden top (made in the USA..yeah!)
-wooden yoyo (also made in the USA...yeah!)
-bubble fan blower thing...the handheld kind
-book

Maribelle and Risy each get:
1 dress and 1 pair of sandals
a bubble wand that makes the big bubbles
lip gloss
a few candy treats
a few money stuffed eggs

Baby M:
1 dress and 1 pair of sandals
1 board book
1 bubble thing for little ones
a few treat filled eggs

We order religious books through school. I think Troll has a subsidiary that sells them. The order forms come with the regular Troll order forms. I'll try to remember the name.

I got my son the whole set of "the dog" Mcdonald's happy meal toys. He has 2 that I had on my dashboard before he was born. He claimed them as his, and sleeps with them, hugs & kisses them, and drags them everywhere. I got a good deal on them (considering they haven't been made for 3 years) & they are still unopened in their packages. That, a package of freeze dried strawberries (his favorite), and a My Little Sandbox (cool little tabletop sandbox toy).

I don't know how to describe Easter to him though. He's too sensitive to tell him the whole story. He gets upset when babies cry in the grocery store because he thinks they are hurt, so how do I explain the cross to him? Is there a book out there that describes Easter for young children?

At that age, they can't even understand death, much less crucifixion and resurrection. Easier to stick with the fact that Jesus made all the bad things we do all better.

Which store? I am headed to Birmingham on Thursday. Should I make an extra stop?

Check the board book section. We have a couple of simple stories in the board book format from when A was young, but I don't remember the titles and they are in storage. I think one was called "The Story of Easter" and I *think* I saw it at Target last week.

Adventures in Toys on Maple, right downtown. It's between Old Woodward and Southfield Rd. They had some really good deals, but their stock is definitely dwindling. Wouldn't hurt to check it out though! Too bad I am meeting my sister at the Henry Ford on Thursday or I would meet you for lunch!
