I need to bake something for G's school's Oktoberfest next weekend. There will be a LOT of baked goods there and plenty of fall-themed stuff (pumpkin muffins, etc). I'd like to make something that stands out visually. I have a bunch of leftover black icing from the happy face cupcakes I made for E's birthday and I was thinking of trying to make cupcakes with "spiders" on them; not sure if the kids would go for that or not! Any other ideas??
If you really want to use the black icing, you could pipe white icing on as a spider web. Or you could get the plastic spider rings (from Walmart - different colors - $1 for 50).
I always buy cupcakes at bakesales. (Though pumpkin fudge might win me over!)
We did spider web cupcakes for Sam's birthday at school last year (b/c it fell during "black and white" week in class and was a week before Halloween). They were a hit! The whole cupcake was iced in white with the web being black and a big black spider on top of each. Super cute! And even cuter were all of the purplish-black lips and tongues! I'm sure their parents all wondered WTF I brought for a treat.
