The Dr. Sears nutrition book touches on that too. For Alden that is completely true. If that boy has a drop in blood sugar...eeks! Everything I have read says grazing on healthy snacks is the way to go.

We have snacks whenever he is hungry between meals. However, our "meals" are not that big. Dinner is our bigger meal, because DH likes a solid meal when he comes home from work. Alden doesn't generally eat a whole lot at dinner and it isn't a big deal to us.

I'm an other... we do eat meals, but they will often have a decent snack in between meals too. They eat quite a lot throughout the run of a day... but they are both really active kids, so I think they must need it. Neither has any excess weight.

I chose big meals, but only because we have strict eating times for which we all sit at the table. But it is really 6 meals in the day (5 for C). Really snacks are just as big as the "meals" and they are 90% healthy. We don't eat in the car (unless it is mealtime) or at the grocery store.
