Default Kids Clothing sizes-what's up with them?

What is the difference between 2T and 24 months? I need to get DD some fall/winter dresses. I just bought a new dress in a 2T-it was way too short. The pants and matching jacket that came with it fit fine. What's up with that? All of her summer dresses were 2T's and they still fit fine. Now I don't know what sizes to buy her for the winter. Uugghh!

24 mo are a little smaller than 2T. Unfortunately different brands are different, and sometimes within a brand! Just like women's clothing! My daughter can still wear some 2Ts, but is getting to mostly 3Ts - but with the Target brands (Cherokee and Circo) she has to wear a 4T shirt - and she just turned 2! She's tall, but come on. Other brands that I think run a little small/short are Carter's, Old Navy, and Ralph Lauren. Also I think that while The Children's Place boys' clothes tend to run pretty true to size (for most things at least), the girls' clothes run small.

I have to just go on how big things look when I hold them up rather than relying just on the size.

Good luck! So frustrating!

I hate the sizing. Right now, M's closet has some 24 month and up to 4T items that all fit him the same. How do you know what's going to work? And when people ask what size are they wearing, what do you tell them? I wish there was truly a standard sizing.

No kidding. My girl's belly is hanging out (yes, she has a big belly) of all 2T shirts so I just bought some 3Ts. Some fit, some don't. I hate that we are anywhere between 2T and 4T. That can be a huge difference!!

Sizes are crazy. My girls are all tall but really thin so we have problems with things that are long enough not staying up. Since we live in shorts the majority of the year it is not too much of an issue, but right now the twins usually wear a 2T... but they have a couple of outfits that are 12-18 months that still fit them fine. All sizes make me nuts, DH got me a shirt last week that says its a large... I am usually a small or medium and this shirt is really tight. Why can't things just be standardized?
