Do you have any control of the ads that are on the side? Most are appropriate, but there is one that is a woman in a thong advertising something with cable. Maybe you can't change it, but I thought I would ask.

I do, and I don't.

If it's an e-bay ad, those are auto-picked based on some keywords that I pass in. (Those have "Ads by ShoppingAds" in the footer). My keywords are all pretty mild, but I have adjusted them with negative-keywords to get rid of some less than desirable ads in the past. (something like "+toys -adult"). Similarly, google ads are driven by the text on the page, but I can go in and say that I don't want ads from a particular site to be displayed.

If it's a full size banner ad, I can remove those - and in fact, I have been planning a review and update for a couple of days now, I just haven't gotten around to it.

I'm having a bit of trouble finding the particular ad that you are describing. If you could grab a screenshot, or if it keeps popping up on a particular thread, a link to that thread, a can keep trying to track it down.

The only ad I can find that is a bit risque is the fig-leaves ad.

The Ebay ones were on target for a while but now we really are getting Pink Floyd, computer components and yes, ladies in thongs advertising cable tv. We do need to update them again!

That ad always makes me laugh and quickly close SMS when I'm at work. I can just see my boss walking by just when Miss Fig Leaf pops up.

There used to be ads along the bottom for mail order brides! That totally cracked me up!

I usually work from home, but had to go to an internet cafe to get some work done one day when the Nanny and DN came here for the day and DH was using the office. I had SMS up and it was the fig leaf ad and I didn't realize it for the longest time. Niiiiiice.

Me, too!!! And, whenever it pops up, it seems like it's up all the time while I'm at work ... at home, I get ads for the super 3600mah lithium battery for the Sony PSP.

I took several ads out of rotation this evening - including the ebay ads that were simply getting less and less relevant. They'll come back if I can find a way to fix it somehow.

The fig leaves ad is out of rotation as well, and I wiped out an ad vendor who simply wasn't working out.

Tomorrow I'll work on bringing in some new ones. For now, I think the cleanup job is complete.
