Disneyland Travel Advice

You could say we are Disney freaks. We have three rooms in our house completely dedicated to Disney characters, including one bathroom that is painted red, black, and white in honor of Mickey. Thus it should come as no surprise that we travel to DisneyLand a lot (we have annual passes and we live in Texas). Since our first child was born three years ago, we have made six trips to DisneyLand with children, and therefore consider ourselves experts at navigating the happiest place on earth with now two toddlers. Here are some of the lessons we've learned.

DIY Cookbook

Now that you've got meal planning down, the only hard part (besides doing the actual cooking) is deciding what to have for dinner. This is where the DIY Cookbook comes in. Personally, I have too few brain cells left after those sleepless newborn nights to actually think of something delicious and nutritious to serve for dinner, and I end up going back to the same standards week after week - spaghetti, hamburgers, and grilled chicken breasts. This is when I created the DIY Cookbook.

Meal Planning 101

Most of us love to shop, but grocery shopping doesn't exactly rank right up there with, oh say, shopping at Nordstrom's. Still, the grocery store is where we spend the bulk of our shopping time and money. Then there comes the actually cooking part of it. Somehow we are supposed to create and prepare delicious and nutritious meals for our families from this hodge-podge of food items that we've just purchased at the grocery store. And if you are like me, I can already hear you laughing. That's why they put a McDonald's right around the corner right?

You Are Not Being Graded

Many moms attack their daily duties with the kind of fervor a college student would attach to a term paper slated to account for more than 50% of their grade. You aren't being graded, and that energy, while admirable, simply cannot be maintained.

Family vacations are fun and exciting for kids. They get to explore new places, see new things, spend all day with attention from the parents, and usually the rules are a little bit relaxed. For parents, travelling can be a bit of a personal trial if they aren't prepared for all of the hiccups that come up.
